Transmission Cooler Descale

Postby StevenD » Sat Aug 24, 2019 9:06 am

Here are a few photos of the transmission cooler on my Cat 3208 which appears to have never been serviced by the PO. I don't know if this build up is from zinc residue or marine growth. anyone?

I would guess it is calcium carbonate and other carbonates precipitating out of the sea water, same as what happens in domestic water systems in "hard water" areas.
