WTB. Transom railing stanchion for 32 woodie

Postby Rod Graff » Sun Dec 10, 2017 11:02 pm

I am looking for one or two of the bronze stanchions that hold up the railing along the transom on a 1970 32 mine are approx. 29" long and are the angled type. Need at least one but would be willing to buy two if available

Rod, I have some that are 28-3/8". Let me know if they will work for you.
Thanks,
Randy

Randy,

If they are a little short, I can shim them, as long as these are the stanchions with the angled bases that are used at the rear railing. Do you have two, and how much are you asking for them? If I can get two, I can place them to the width of the bracket I bought, without having to drill into my existing stanchions. Can you take a picture of one for me?

Rob, a few pictures below. They will need a little cleaning up, but are otherwise in good shape. $80 plus shipping for two of them.

The bottom of yours looks different. I'm going to re check mine when I go back to the boat. Are yours off of a 32 woodie? Price is fine if I can make them work, but I want to make sure.

These are from a '67 36 with a lowered cockpit like the 32's. I know they worked out fine for another wood 32 (1970), but by all means be sure! If these won't work for you, Barry Luke may have some.

Randy, could you post another picture of the stanchion showing the bottom flange at a different angle. The edge shot doesn't show the shape of the flange and the hole pattern. I'm probably going to have to use a small teak wedge shim under to make up for the slightly shorter length. I'll be at the boat again this weekend. Was that 67 36 that these were off of a sedan?

stanchion base pic

It was a Classic, but configured like a 32 in that it had a lower cockpit aft, with a step down from the side decks. Let me know if more pics would help!
