Teak parts and custom doors-- suggested supplier in Thailand

Postby Jeff K » Mon Jul 31, 2006 9:57 am

I just got a custom made teak louvered door for the anchor locker and some other teak parts as well from a company in THailand -- they built the replacement door to the 1/16 of an inch and it fits perfectly -- really nicely done. Took about a month to get the parts but it worked out great--THey have an online catalog for their standard parts as well-- all orders done by email and you have to mail him a cashiers check -- but the products are worth the trouble-- particularly the custom made doors--

One issue with the wood from Thailand, moisture content. We bought a beautiful kitchen table one vacation and had it shipped over here, Vancouver BC the wet west coast. Well within about 2 months the table started to warp and after about 6 months it was warped so badly we had to basically scrap it!
It was made from their local teak and was just over 1.5 in. thick.

I've also had 2 louvered doors made here and they did a beautiful job. They'll do teak or mahogany and custom made to your dimensions. If I recall they were about $100 each and my doors were only about 14' x 14" so not cheap but they'll last longer than any of us!
