Christmas Cruise

Christmas Cruise

Postby Onesockbob » Thu Dec 26, 2013 11:34 pm

What better way to enjoy the holidays then to take a cruise!

Day one Bellingham to Langley via LaConnor.
Day two Langley to Everett.
Day three Everett to Pt Townsend.
Day four Pt Townsend to Bellingham.

Tested out the new Garmin 740s and 18HD radar. What a difference from the old Raynav R10XX and plotter. Technology is a good thing!

Lovely photo.

Non of my mates are out cruising here in the Uk...... It's just a tad windy. Anything from very little (10knts) to miles too much (95knts)....... Depending where you are in the country.

I'm beginning to sound like a yachty

Tom

You are getting old

What happened to the man who cruises in the Irish Sea in large wind?

Brassbounder is heading from Anacortes to Sidney, BC later this morning. There is no wind right now but it is raining. There is a predicted increase in wind this afternoon but by then I hope to be beyond the point of no return. It will be shorted to continue rather than turn back. Also we can always pop into Roche Harbor if the Haro Strait is too rough for the Admiral.

Fair winds and calm seas for 2014.

Don,
Good blow in Bellingham right now. We should be rounding Anacortes around 1300 and heading North.

Don your right I'm getting old..... and I moved to the Clyde Estuary to get some calmer waters. Trying to hold on to the cabin floor with your toes got tiring, I much prefer the smoother waters so it won't spill the Hendricks. :P

See you in 2014

The trip from Anacortes to Sidney was interesting. Pouring rain in Anacortes but no wind at 1200. Strong west wind in Thatcher Pass but no rain. Strong west wind in Harney Channel but no wind or rain in Spieden Channel.

Crossing Haro Strait was easy as it was calm. The Canadian Customs agent was even pleasant on the phone so I was precleared and went straight to my slip (E-7) in Port of Sidney Marina arriving AT 1630.

Now I just need to get my water pump working and I will be set for a week of relaxing until the office finds out where I am.

Tom. I hope you are handling the bad UK weather okay. Remember that May is only 5 months to go and then you can visit God's country again.

Happy New Year to all. Fair winds and calm seas for 2014.
