Grand Banks Owners Club, Scandinavia was founded in Oslo, Norway 5th January 2013. The club aims to collect Grand Banks owners in Scandinavia for building social relationship and for joint purchase of the Grand Banks effects.
The club will systematically map the Grand Banks-built boats in Scandinavia.
The newly elected president Inge (Astor) Jensen says that the club will build up slowly and will have a wider cooperation with other Grand Banks owners in Scandinavia. He points out that with the large geographical distances this will not be easy. Establishing subdivisions where the need arises might be a way to go. They want to establish official contacts in Denmark and Sweden.
A Web site will fall into place eventually. Currently, Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/142699079218409/
is established. It will be reserved for members only.
Jensen believes that there are somewhere between 20 and 30 Grand Banks in Norway. Probably the same number in Sweden and Denmark. We see that there is great enthusiasm among the owners to keep the lovely ladies in ship-shape. No doubt that a well-maintained Grand Banks draws spectators to the dock. Inge Jensen himself owns a 39 year old Classic 36 named Astor. This type of boat was produced in over 1,200 copies and distributed worldwide. The boats are manufactured in Asia, Singapore and Malaysia.
In Norway, the club will have close cooperation with the Norwegian Trawler Club, where several members are also organized.
The Board of Grand Banks Owners Club currently consists of Inge Jensen, Hurum, president, Andre `Wold (Lykke), Drøbak, secretary, Hans Petter Syvertsen (Embla), Oslo, treasurer and Bjorn Smørsteen (Snowstorm II), Horten as gathering responsible and Sveinung Bjerkem.
In addition, a Danish and Swedish representative will be members of the Board.
