Rocna Anchor - GB42 Classic

Postby Shotgunn » Mon May 20, 2019 10:11 am

Sorry if this has been asked before.

I have a 25Kg Delta anchor as the main anchor on my 1992 42 Classic.

It feel a little undersized to enable me to sleep soundly.

Does anyone have experience of fitting a 33 (or 25) original Rocna or Vulcan?

I have a Lofran Tigres windlass and 80 meters of stainless 10mm chain.

My three considerations are fit onto bow roller, capacty of windlass to determine if i can use a 33 over the 25.

Thanks

M

My 25kg Vulcan fits and launches well on my 42 Europa. Holding power seems to be good as well.

According to the Lewmar Delta chart, 25 kg should be plenty for your 42'.

I think the Delta is not a bad anchor but, nonetheless, I prefer a new generation anchor such as Spade or Rocna as I believe they are more likely to re-set after a wind-shift in the middle of the night.

The windlass should have no issue with the weight difference of the different anchors. The bulk of the weight it lifts is the chain, not the anchor.

I have a 40 kg Rocna in my GB50 and it fits well in the bow roller, which is similar to the one in the GB42 or, at least, to the the older 42s.
