Spade 140 or 160 on a GB42

Postby Ocean Girl » Tue Jan 01, 2019 6:00 pm

Any GB42 (we are 1983) have a big Spade anchor? We are looking at the 140(66lbs) or the 160 (77lbs).
Here is our bow sprit, our windlass is plenty beefy(BHW with 8” 3/8 bbb gypsy).

This will be our primary for gulf coast, sand and mud. Later we will head back to Bahamas which is sand, some grass.
Thanks
Erika

I have an 88 lb. Rocna which works well in my GB50. Were I richer I would have bought the next size up (121 lbs.)

According to the Spade Anchor guide, for your boat the Spade 100 seems already oversize, which is no bad thing.

Is your Danforth not holding? This will be our first summer with our 42 and it appears she has the same Danforth anchor as yours.
