We live in Olympia WA, and have a 1971 GB 42 Classic. Xanadu is a rare single screw which was repowered in 2001 with a 225 hp John Deere engine. A 13.5 hp bow thruster was added in 2004. Our immediate cruising area is Puget Sound, with the San Juan and Gulf Islands only a couple of days away. We would like to cruise areas such as Florida, the Carribean, Europe, New Zealand, or the Medeterranean. We like boating in places where we can anchor out rather than be in marinas every night. We have an interest in exchanging with a 32, 36 or 42 single, since all of our experience is with single screw boats.

1985 ss 42 BG

Postby Batistick » Sat Oct 14, 2006 12:30 pm

I also have a single screw 42 GB. In the Carolina's now but consider a trip from Oriental NC to either South Carolina, or through the Dismal Swamp and the Cheseapeak in the spring or Long Island Sound or Maine in the summer. A one way trip from Maine back to Long Island Sound could work. Boat is a 1985, single Cat, bow thruster, Niaids and all the usual. 8 batteries allow you to anchor every nite in QUIET.

We have a beautiful waterfront home at Stuart Island, in the San Juan Islands, Washington State, and are looking for a year long Grand Adventure doing the Great Loop in 2008. The San Juans are close to the Canadian Gulf Islands (six miles) and offer the very best weather and cruising for four months out of the year that you can get anywhere.

The house would come with a 17' Boston Whaler but sorry no cruising boat. (we are selling our Tolly 26).Great place for shrimping, crabbing, fishing, and whale watching. I would suggest a bare boat charter for a week or two and just enjoy the local area for the rest of the summer.

Will consider any trade thing that makes sense to each party.
