Shower pan pump

Why? Why doesn't the shower pan just drain out like the galley sink? I found yesterday that the PO just unhooked the pump and let the water run into the bulge for the bulge pump to handle it.

Wouldn’t recommend the shower draining into the bilge. Any hair would clog the intake screen if you had one or jam the bilge pump impeller. Either case you have just disabled the bilge pump.

Right, planning on fixing what the P.O. Did. Sitting in the salon eating my lunch today and I realized the bottom of the pan is below the water line, that is why it has to be pumped out.

Draining the shower into the bilge also produces some of the stinkiest gunk you can imagine. :)
Good luck,
