Replace Front Window with Aluminum Frame?

Postby oldersalt » Tue Sep 24, 2019 9:38 am

Hi all,

My 1990 GB 32 (#834) has very nice Aluminum window frames all around, newly repainted as it happens. The other day a big crack appeared in the port-side big fixed windshield. Bummer. To replace it, does the exterior aluminum frame have to come off? If so, how?
Thanks for your help.

I found the answer myself, finally. The window comes out from the inside. You have to remove the teak framing around the inside of the window, including drilling out/removing some bungs. Then carefully remove all the caulking and/or rubber gaskets. Yuck.
