painting the surface between the toe rails.

After years of sanding our 1990 36 Classic, we finally have to replace the toe rails on the flying bridge. I'm almost done removing them and the top trim came off fairly easily while the bottom quarter round trim is a bear because of the butyl tape or silicone they used underneath. While I am waiting for the trim replacement, I will be sanding and painting the gelcoat area between the trim. In the past I used 2 inch waterline tape, but that will be removed with a heat gun, then I will remove all the gum debris with acetone.

Am I right in using a 2 part awl grip paint? It seems to me that an exact paint match is not necessary, so maybe a white.

I'll keep on showing the progress.
