Transmission Control Cable

Postby Alex888 » Fri Apr 05, 2019 8:32 am

I have Panish controls on my 2003 GB 46. The port flybridge transmission lever does not move smoothly and easily. Has anyone experienced this problem and has replacing the control cables resulted in a significant improvement?

Not the same boat as yours, but I just replaced my flybridge control and cables due to a stiff operating transmission leaver. I used cabbies from Seachoice called ultra cables. They have a shorter bend radius, and have less resistance. The controls operate a lot smoother now.

Same problem with our GB 46. Traced 8 or 9 turns (from upper helm) in the cable before terminating at the tranny. Replaced one tranny cable with a new one and saw significant improvement. 90 days later - same problem, only worse. One leg up on the console for bracing and I might get it into reverse. Plain angry at that point; bought Glendinning electronic controls and wondering why I didn't much earlier. Worth every penny. Not one problem in 4-5 years running.
