Bow Thruster Installation for Wood GB42CL

Postby Paul Headland » Tue Mar 05, 2019 8:35 am

What sort of tunnel material and are bronze flanges required on the hull exterior to seal to the wood hull?

Is additional strengthening to the hull needed?

Would the tunnel be above/below sole height?

Just thinking about this at the moment but would like some actual installation experience.

Thanks, Paul

Paul,
Here's some images from my BT install, GB 32 Woody. Tunnel lining and outer 'flange' are all fibre glass. Hope this helps.

Thanks Martin, that looks nice & strong.

Is there any reinforcing on the inside of the hull to the tunnel as well?

Much easier to install a hydraulic stern thruster. No holes below the waterline and 100% duty cycle. Check out Dickson Stern Thrusters. Have had good success with mine on a 32 woodie.
