Freezer drain in EB47?

Does anyone know where the drain from the freezer in an Eastbay comes out? This being the chest in the corner of the galley counter. Adler Barbour setup if I recall correctly. The DC power went out this past week in the freezer defrosted. This has left two bags of ice worth of water in the bottom of...

Re: Regular Person

Lighten up Tom. It's that sort of thinking that just digs the mess deeper. Stop listening to AM radio and talk shows that insist on labeling things that way. None of what you posted on the left supports the claim to the right. Really, none of it. What's changed is an insistence on the part of those ...

Stateroom door handle grub screw sizes?

Anyone know the size grub screw (aka set screw) used to hold the handles onto the door hardware in an Eastbay? I've got one on the forward stateroom where the allen socket head is just about stripped out. There's enough edge left in there to remove it, but not enough to get it properly tight. Of cou...

Re: Flagpole hardware vendor?

I got a response back from the factory indicating they made the flag pole hardware in-house. So I'll have to shop around or have something made locally.

Name boards and transom typefaces

Any thoughts on typeface and style to use on side name boards? We're planning on a scripted name for the transom, but that wouldn't look very readable from the sides. These use the same 'Clare Extended' that Grand Banks uses. Along with the options being considered (and they're ones that made the sp...

Flagpole hardware vendor?

Anyone know what manufacturer created the flag mounting hardware? I'm debating re-mounting the flag on our 2005 EB47 to move it up to the flybridge. We've added a cockpit fly cover and the center pole now occupies the space formerly held by the flag pole socket. I could swap them back/forth but that...

Re: Looking at GB47s

I've got an Eastbay 47 Flybridge and among the many pleasant features, I find the stairway up to the flybridge to be fantastic. That and since we use it for a lot of weekend entertaining with friends, the large aft cockpit is quite nice. Those being two things that are fundamentally different betwee...

iirc, Davey is the vendor for engine room lighting fixtures too. Izerwaren is a good source for other hardware too.

Re: Water Pump Load on Circuit

Check the voltage levels at the devices, both when idle and when operating. If there's any dip then you have something to check. Start with removing and cleaning the connections to them. A bad ground or corrosion will cause them to consume more power than usual. A device suddenly draining a lot more...

Re: Reworking DC system on 36, What's the purpose of Solenoid Panel

Ah, so it parallels automatically every time? I've had other boats that specifically required pressing/holding a parallel button while starting. I second the recommendation to have good battery monitoring. The WORST thing you can do to batteries is run them below 11volts (11.5?). The issue being dra...

Re: Reworking DC system on 36, What's the purpose of Solenoid Panel

In all the boats I've owned each one has, at one time or another, needed to parallel the battery banks to start an engine. Usually due to a drain on the bank, but sometimes from a battery that's inexplicably died. I'd never eliminate the paralleling option. I would probably not set it up to have bot...

Aft door on Eastbay 47?

The aft door from the salon to the cockpit is a wreck. Has anyone totally re-done this? The mortise lock latch is toast, and so is the bottom channel the door rides along. The factory design seems pretty weak. I'm open to suggestions. Or sources of materials. The upside is our boat, hull #2 and hull...

Re: Wi-Fi suggestions

I'm looking to do something for our Eastbay. Pepwave and Cradlepoint make some pretty impressive units, including ones that have multi-SIM capabilities. I've not yet dug into the details. An important point to remember is you want the antennas as close as possible to the radios. Using longer coax wi...

Re: LED lights over circuit breaker panel

If I might, has anyone found a good way to light up the breaker panel on a 47 Eastbay? I don't have a good picture of it, but where it's located really doesn't get very good light at night. As in, the middle of the night when I need to fire up one of the vacuflush breakers. The glass paneled door fi...

Re: Joystick necessary with thruster?

Anything could get over-used. The key with any thruster setup is to remind yourself that it's power is limited. I try to plan my docking like I don't even have thrusters. And then only use them sparingly. If you keep that in mind it won't matter what kind of control you've got. I've got bow and ster...
