Re: GB 42 classic fuel tank baffles..

Don't know if this helps any...several photos taken when I had my original 1987 steel tanks cleaned last year. One pic shows the exterior of the starboard tank and the placement of the access port. About midway on the tank, fore and aft. The pictures were taken by sticking my head in and taking them...

Re: Salon door seals

bsbearden: Here is his email, picture he sent attached: I do not much knowledge of the door seal in your boat, however I assume the photo I attached is what you are looking for. If it is different subject, perhaps you could shoot me some photo and I will see what I can help. Just for your info, the ...

Re: Salon door seals

Emailed Nazri on Friday and got an almost immediate response yesterday. Very quick. He wasn't sure about my boat exactly but sent me a picture of what they do have (looked very close), gave me the P/N and Manufacturer and suggested that I check with them to save on shipping from GB in Malaysia if in...

Re: Cleaning Flybridge Instrument box

Thanks Mike. What a pain! It would seem that if the aluminum was sealed to the fiberglass, adhesive/caulk and not screwed down, it could be unsealed somehow. Couple of hours with a guitar string or fishing line going back and forth...maybe? Then clean and reseal. Would prefer to get it really clean ...

Re: Cleaning Diesel Tank

I guess no one has experience with it! I had a local tank service guy do mine. Only took a few hours and they cleaned them very well, made new inspection port gaskets, and polished the fuel before putting it back in. Well worth the $700 it cost me.

Re: Cleaning Flybridge Instrument box

I will check mine closer when I am on the boat tomorrow but sure looks like aluminum to me. What was the GB42 standard back in the day, 1987?

Cleaning Flybridge Instrument box

Have some dead crawly/flying bugs inside my flybridge instrument panel that bug me, yes I did say that, to death. Needs a good cleaning out. I can crawl inside the FB dash area and drop the box down to get to it but it looks like I will have to remove the instruments to do so. My panel is like that ...

Re: Salon door seals

Thanks Rusty. I will contact him. I have not removed the old seal so I'm not sure what the depth of the slot is or the exact profile of the original seal. Since it is worn down to the edge of the door I guess there isn't any harm in removing. It's not doing anything useful. I did find one that is cl...

Salon door seals

1987 GB 42' Classic, have been searching and searching for the bristle in a track salon door seals and can't find anything close. Certainly someone has replaced this in the past? If I can't find the right seal then I guess I will have to rout another size slot and go with another standard type. Real...

Re: Bow Pulpit Rail

Looks like you have 2 kinks on the starboard side. My experience has been that kinks don't come out no matter what. Even if you can straighten them out somewhat the rail will be weak at that spot.

Re: Overhaul 12 volt

Lots of posts about 6volt GC batteries here and elsewhere online. A couple of books have helped me out. Boatowners Illustrated Electrial Connections by Charlie Wing and The 12 Volt Bible For Boats by Ed Sherman as well as others. My 3 8D batteries were new at the time of purchase 1.5 years ago but I...

Re: Electrical nightmare

My sympathies. I have a 1987 GB42 and have come across a couple of poorly completed "repairs". One day generator stopped dead. Searching found a starter connection much like yours. I have started an inch by inch review of everything bow to transom. Not only to check on the current status o...
