Re: Discolored teak trim

Hard to tell from the picture but they look like water stains. And the water appears to be coming from what appear to be bung plugs? Probably from the back side of the trim through the screw holes. You might want to pull a bung plug and screw to further inspect to see where the water originated. Rep...

Re: Flybridge teak replacement

Perry Try this. Pull a bolt or two. Not all of them. In place of one or 2 of the bolts that you removed screw in a stud or like bolt with the head removed. Then remove the rest of the bolts and install studs. Then remove the fitting by sliding up over the studs. The studs will keep the plate in plac...

Following this Perry. New teak as opposed to glassing with non skid?
I am looking forward to what others have to say about the anchor bolts.
Keep us abreast.

Re: Leaking Shaft Stuffing Box

How much have you tightened? If the stuffing box is not hot while running you can probably tighten more. Especially with 4 wraps on it. Did you look for scoring on the shaft when you replaced?

Re: cleaning heat exchanger problem

Just replaced mine. (3) They were known to be 10 years old. Not sure on the hours. Might have been a little premature but I know where I stand. Kept the engine exchanger as a spare as it is the most expensive.

Re: Windshield wiper replacement

An electrical / starter / alternator shop may be able to repair. Might be something simple for a trained eye. Are there any markings in the end of the motor?

Re: Price for Teak Removal and Paint Decks GB42

Maybe old news but I have found that water accumulates under the teak between the teak and top layer of glass. (Probably from leaks in the sealant between the teak boards.) It will then travel until it finds a screw that will allow the water in to the core. That is obviously a problem. I am removing...

Matching gel coat color

As a noted in a previous thread here somewhere and for anyone who is interested....I find that Pettit Ez Poxy white and Hatteras white mixed 50/50 is pretty much a perfect match to my 34 year old gelcoat.

Re: bronze rub rail removal

Not to be a wise guy but take em out 1 at a time. Maybe an “old Fashioned” bit brace might help if they are hard to break loose. An electric drill or screwdriver will just strip the heads and make the job harder.

Re: Scuppers

Don’t have answers for you but Following your progress. Interested to know details. How many hours thus far? Have you checked for rotted core? Pictures? Do you feel that the deck has enough strength without adding glass? That would resolve your scupper issue.

Sounds like they are overcharging and therefore “boiling “ the water out. Get the charger checked out.
