Re: Bung Replacement

I have been replacing deck bungs as they become missing. Part of the problem is that the factory used round headed screws. The purpose of the screws is to hold the planks in place while the glue cured. By now they serve no purpose other than to fill the hole. I have been replacing the original screw...

Try www.sailrite.com. They may not have an exact replacement, but should have something that can be adapted.

Re: Wi-Fi suggestions

I installed The WirieAP+ (WiFi only) last year and am very pleased with the performance. Easy install on a topside rail. The Wirie Pro (WiFi and 2G/3G/4G) is probably what you are looking for. http://www.thewirie.com/

Ours is a single engine, two tank setup, like yours. There is a dedicated equalizing fuel line between the two tanks with a valve at each end. Check that both valves are open. Also check the tank vents for blockage. I disconnected the vent hoses at the tank and used a shop vac to clear the spider we...

We use some tall directors chairs that came with the boat. They fold up and stow away when not in use. When out cruising they are moved out to the covered aft deck (we have a Europa) when at anchor. The chairs are wood with canvas seats and back. The canvas is replaceable. The chairs are sold at Pie...

Looks great! The only problem that I would watch for is cracks forming due to flexing from motion underway.

Most photo editing apps can do this through the "Export" feature. I use PhotoShop Elements. Picasa is good too.

Underway in the San Juan Islands

We just went through Peavine Pass at slack and were headed up Harney Channel. We passed a friend and he grabbed this picture. We spent the night at West Sound and then met up with four other Squalicum Yacht Club boats for the weekend at Garrison Bay on San Juan Island.

Aft Cockpit Enclosure

We enclosed the aft cockpit on our 1989 36' Europa in 2010. We had Squalicum Marine Canvas in Bellingham do the work and are generally pleased with the outcome. The totaL cost was in the $2400 range at the time. There are some design details that you should consider. Contact me by email if you would...

Fuel Fill Fix

In addition to rebedding, I plan to remove the teak deck strips in a circle about 3/4 inch greater than the diameter of the fuel fill fitting lip and replace it with a solid piece of teak. Then drill a hole in the solid piece for the fill fitting. Hopefully this will give the fitting a better surfa...

Fisherman Bay Entrance

Hi Marin, We went to Fisherman's last year in July with SYC. Had no problems transiting the channel at half tide and following mid-channel course. The boats that get in trouble are the ones who cut the corners or stray outside the marked channel. We experienced a good 2-3 knot ebbing current on the ...
