I too had to re-plumb the system - you do want to use PVC DWV plumbing ( drain, waste, vent ) parts - all available at HD or Lowes -the elbows with DWV have wider radius's or bigger swipes - and connecting a 1 1/2 " DWV 90 degree elbow using a starboard plate, I was able to make a PVC nut cut f...

Bob - I'm using Interlux Surfacing Putty # 257 - I remove all the loose surface - sand the area - vacuum the sanded area - apply the putty - sand again - it might require 2 or 3 applied coats of putty -
