Re: GB32 replace cutlass bearings

Hmmm ... can't help you with that. We had ours replaced a few years ago by a yard. :) There were three on each side for us as well.

Re: Bridge steering cable

Inboard and outboard are port/left and starboard/right. The "A" mount is at the flybridge. I can't remember whether it is wood or metal. It's the plate the steering is mounted to (if I remember correctly). Loosening it will give some slack in the cable.

Re: Bridge steering cable

Are you talking about the flybridge to the lower helm cable? I can't say for sure with a 36, but on my 42 I used 20 feet. Cable is inexpensive. At the time it was about $15. I have a short post here http://blog.mvarchimedes.com/2013/12/replacing-flybridge-steering-cable/ if that helps in any way.

Re: Rib vs soft bottom

We had Weaver davits, but moved everything to Sea Wise. It is much easier for us. We have a 20 hp Tohatsu 4 stroke with electric start. It stays upright as the dingy is raised. We use the Sea Wise cable and crank to raise it. I believe it has 25:1 gearing. It is easy enough my wife can raise or lowe...

Re: Rib vs soft bottom

I think the answer to your question is in how you use your inflatable and how often you use it. We use ours a lot. And I like to go fast when I can. We have a 12" fiberglass/hypalon inflatable. We added a 20 hp Tohatsu outboard, seats, and steering wheel. With two people and some gear, we run a...

Re: Salon door seals

Grand Banks has this weatherstripping available. I am not sure it will fit your boat, though. The last contact I have is Nazri Abu. nazri_a@grandbanks.com.

Re: Water heater connection on Ford Lehman

In our case, one line comes out of the left side of the block behind the alternator. The other end T's off of the large hose that comes out of the coolant reservoir.

I have checked all the bolts and can find nothing loose.

I will try both lifting and unbolting the mounts to see which is easier.

The port motor visibly vibrates several inches side to side at normal cruise (1650 rpm). We also replaced the shaft and cutlass bearings on that side a year or so ago. I've had two mechanics suggest we replace the mounts. I can't find anything that says they have been replaced so it makes sense (at ...

Thanks! I went by the boat this weekend to check on a few things. I will use a a beam across the hatches. The lifting looks straightforward. I need to go up just over two inches.

Here are the fancy new motor mounts.

Lifting Lehmans to change motor mounts

I am getting ready to change the motor mounts on our old boat. What is the best way to jack up the engines to make the swap?

Two Hobie Mirage Revolution 11 Kayaks For Sale

We are selling a pair of Hobie Mirage Revolution 11 kayaks. Oddly, we managed to acquire two more than we need. It's handy when friends come to visit, but that doesn't justify keeping four kayaks around. It is time for two to find a new home. Hobie Mirage kayaks use Hobie's proprietary Mirage drive....
