Re: Improving aft cabin sliding hatch drainage?

Yes, I'm thinking about adding a second hole and enlarging the existing one but only on the portside rail.

Improving aft cabin sliding hatch drainage?

We seem to have a chronic issue with the smallish weep hole at the bottom edge of the teak hatch slider getting plugged up and allowing water into the aft cabin on our GB42. Anybody here removed the teak to cut open a bigger weep hole? The rail section is well fastened to the cabin roof but it doesn...

V-Berth windows with radiused corners

I need to fabricate new frames and stops for the two v-berth windows and the same for the forward head. Unlike every other window on the boat these three feature rounded corners on the frames and glass. I haven't removed them as yet but I'm trying to wrap my head around just how to fabricate these t...

Vintage Deck Pulls?

Looking to purchase several original GB deck pulls (1970s vintage). These measure 2 x 2.75 inches. Apparently these are an odd size as I'm unable to find suitable new replacements.
Thanks if you can assist!

Anybody tried King Starboard to fab up new window frames? Pricey? ...yes, but possibly indestructible if done properly. Any thoughts?

Re: Scuppers

Charlie I'm lucky in that ours is a very early glass 42 and seriously overbuilt. The decks are solid as a rock and I've not found any rot.

Scuppers

Okay, so I've got the teak stripped off the decks and all 9000 holes have been filled and faired. With the teal gone my deck surface is now about a half inch lower than the scuppers. How have others dealt with this? FWIW she's a very early glass 42 - Thanks

Re: Teak deck removed!!!

Just finished stripping the main deck of my 1973 GB42. Removed most of the old adhesive with a wide floor scraper that works with snap-off blades normally used in cheap utility knives...works a charm. Finished removing the remaining adhesive with 80 grit on a random orbital and then chamfered each a...

Interior plywood replacement on a fibreglass boat

Looking for any tips, tricks, photos, moral support. I need to replace the plywood on the aft wall of the master stateroom, a chronic leak from the aft door area has left the surrounding wall a bit punky and I can put a screwdriver right through it to the outer glass shell. I haven't begun the proje...

Paint failure

We have a very early glass GB. When we acquired her there was what appeared to be some minor blistering on the aft cabin roof alongside the rear hatch slider. After living with it a couple of years I decided to paint the roof with Interlux Britesides after having success with it on our sailboat. I p...
