Rich, Same thing happened on the flybridge unit of our 88 GB 36. Marine Ele tronics of the Outer Banks advertises itself as having the abililty to fix outdated Simrad/Robertson electronics, so I would try them. Units in working condition are very hard to find on ebay or such, so it seems to be a com...

Hi, We're currently in Indian Creek VA waiting for the floods to recede. Current reports have ICW in pretty good shape with some floating debris. Dismal Swamp remains closed and there is an intermittent rumour of North Landing Swing Bridge closing 22Oct-4Nov, which would shut down the Virginia Cut a...

Hi,
If you go to the Rocna website, you can download templates of various sized anchors. Cut them out, glue them together, and see what fits. I did this for our GB 36, decided on a 20kg Rocna, and it fits perfectly.
Good luck,
Roger

Hi, When you get back to the States, buy a copy of Nigel Calders BOATOWNERS GUIDE. You will then understand a 12volt system is a balance of load monitoring, battery capacity, high amperage charging capability, and smart 3 or 4 stage voltage regulation. The stock GB with Sentry charger, internally re...

Hi, You might want to look at Oxford Yacht Agency's website. They were a big GB dealer in the old days and installed a lot of dinghy launching gear on GB booms. It involved an upside down Harken mainsheet track, traveller, and an electric winch mounted on the boom. We have one on our GB 36 and it is...

Hi,
Try Wards electric. I ordered 4 lenses, pricey at $25/per. They are sometimes available on eBay.

Good luck,

Hi, We own one of the first'widebody' GB36s, hull #819. I believe the island berth arrangement began with the hull extension. We specifically sought a widebody because: 1. Berths in aft cabin are 6" longer due to 'step' in aft cabin bulkhead. 2. Separate shower stall in aft head. (May disappear...

Hi, We have found installing magnesium anodes (purchased from McMaster Carr) cuts the oxidation and pitting down considerably. Replacement required every other year. On our '88 GB36 I don't know how you could ever coat the inside of the tanks without cutting big holes in the baffles due to access pr...

Hi,
I don't know if this helps in France, but I purchased replacement risers from my local CAT distributor here in the U.S.. I would suspect they have a European presence.

Hi, On our '88 GB36 the same thing happens. I lift up the hatch as it slides over the doors and it works. I suspect the guides that slide in the metal piece in the hatch runners are worn. On our boat there are 3 screws in each side of the hatch. Remove the screws, slide the hatch forward, and the gu...

Hi, Groco SV series seacock with a rubber plug. Replacement plugs are no longer available, so service involves disassembly, lapping the plug if needed, lubrication and reassembly. If the rubber plug is too badly distorted to fit tightly, then I think the only recourse is replacement of the fitting. ...

Hi, Our 88 GB36 single had a pronounced list to port at rest. I added 200 lbs of lead ingots to the starboard quarter just forward of the transom. Fixed the list and also helped the decks drain to the aft scuppers. Looks like you might have something similar, only steel and glassed in. If it's rusty...

Hi, On our '88 GB36, tools (wrenches, sockets , screwdrivers , etc) go in forward drawer under port aft bunk. Drawer has dividers to keep the pliers from mingling with the wrenches, etc. Engine specific tools are in a toolbox under the stbd flying bridge seat. Buffer and spare engine filters are und...

Hi, My stern platform is in the basement for winter work replacing a couple of slats. I can remove and install it myself with the aid of 2 stepladders and a bight of line. I would guess it weighs about 75#, I can carry it singlehandedly from the boat to the house. Much easier to wood the bottom tran...
