Interior salon lighting socket help

Has anyone found a suitable replacement for the original 12 volt sockets in what I'm guessing was many of the GB models in the 80's? OR, if anyone has upgraded their lighting and has a few of these available I would be willing to take them off your hands thereby helping with the age old boating stor...

I also put in a sea frost system, very happy with it. Was able to keep the original doors. The refrigerant line developed a crack near the compressor and it was repaired by Sea Frost without an issue. I have two units, one each for the freezer and fridge.

Marin, could you possible post a simple wiring diagram as to how you connected your batteries? I'll be replacing my 8Ds in a year or two, and have a similar twin engine configuration as yourself. Thanks!

I used the old top plate as a template and re-used the original SS bolts. I fashioned a new seal with some rubbery gasket material that was left over from another long forgotten project. It all went together well.

I have had very good success (so far, three years since repair) with Gorilla Glue on our teak handrail. Repair joint is still tight with no water intrusion. I did not pre-seal the damaged joint area with CPES (although I do use CPES when varnishing per Bob Lowe's recommendations).

As always, thanks for the suggestions and advice! Boyd, the company you referenced is indeed almost in my backyard -we're both in New York State except Staten Island is about 8-9 hours from Buffalo lol!

I will post some pics, probably mess it up but hey that's how we learn sometimes eh?

Gold Leaf for name boards

Does anyone have a reasonable source for materials needed to replace gold leaf on a v-cut name board? The guy that re-did mine has since gone out of business. I'm thinking it can't be too difficult but if anyone has experience please chime in!!

I replaced the original Grunert compressor and controls with two Seafrost units one for the fridge and one for the freezer. Very happy with the result. It was a straightforward replacement which allowed us to keep the original doors etc. Not cheap. One of the reasons we switched out was the unavaila...

The pin broke on my hinge also. Tried to knock it out with an appropriate sized punch but no luck. tried soaking in PB Rust Blaster no luck. Tried heating with a torch no luck. Scared to try to drill it out as I'll probably ruin it. Any thoughts? Thanks!!

Grunert parts 1985-era

Replaced my old Grunert system, up for grabs are the cold plates (one from fridge, 2 from freezer) the compressor, the control valves, the electric motor that ran the compressor and the electric control box. Also have most of the copper fittings that connected the refrigerant lines. The motor was re...
